Can you run a 965 x4 with just one stick of ram.

It's not a big deal either way but I got a good deal on this cpu and a 790fx mobo . Going to upgrade my wife's gaming rig. Now I have a extra 4gb ddr3 stick I can take from one of my other systems for right now.

Am not sure it will work thought cause am only been doing Intel stuff lately.
I have Google this question and even read the manual haven got a answer.
Motherboard will be here in a couple of days.

Anyone try this don't really feel like buying more ram at the moment. Thanks

You should be able to. Check the MOBO manual for the accepted memory configuratios to verify.

Yeah that's the thing it just tells you what slots to use for dual channel doesn't address anything else am thinking it will be fine thought just curious.

The one stick i have is 1600 ddr3 4gb which will be fine by it's self if it works.
