Is the 9600pro going to be discontinued and replaced by the 9600XT, or are both 9600XT/pro going to continue to sell at the same time with the XT being just another speed/price bump?

probably not. The 9600 Pro is at a very Great Price/Performance Ratio right now and it would be foolish and un profitable for them to cancel the 9600 Pro.

Yes the 9600/9800 XT will both replace the 9600 Pro and 9800 Pro once stocks of the older video cards have been sold.

I don't foresee the 9800 pro going anywhere anytime soon just because ATI still wants to hold the high end performance card crown, yet not many people will pay 500 for a high end graphics card, but the 9600 pro has been discontinued from most major retailers already, but just like the 9500/9700 you will still be able to get them for a long time to come.
