9600XT hangs while playing C&C Generals Zero hours

Has anyone have this problem? Any suggestions on getting rid of it? I'm using catalyst 4.12 (had the same problem with 4.11).

Did the game ever work with this video card? If not, it's possible that it's overheating. You're not overclocking the video card are you?
 
I was using a PNY GeForce 5200 before switching to the 9600XT and didn't have a single freeze (only occasional stutters when there are too many units in the game). Back then I was using a different machine (just upgraded to the 400SC recently right before switching the video card).

Since the switch, I've had at least 1 freeze for every 3 game or so. At first I thought the card was overheating but I checked the temperature (with Catalyst overdrive meter, let me know if it's not accurate) and it stays at 36c so it doesn't look like overheating. I wasn't overclocking it either.

Any idea or anyone with similar config let me know.

Wow, old thread!

Did you ever figure this out? You should probably uninstall the drivers entirely using Driver Cleaner and reinstall the latest ones from ATI. Keep us posted.
