Im planning to build a system pretty soon, and Im trying to limit my budget to around $880..so far I have

M/B - Abit KV8-MAX3
CPU - Athlon 64 2800+
RAM - 512MB DDR PC-3200

with all the other things im at 720 right now at newegg shipped..So I was just wondering if the 9600XT will suffice untill I upgrade which will probably be end of the summer with probably the best video card out..

If you are getting a 9600XT, why not get a 9600 Pro instead? Price/performance wise the 9600 Pro is better.

if you just need a card thats fast enough to hold you out until september or october, then get a ti4200 at around 80 bucks. more $ in your pocket for that best video card in 3 months time.

Do you like 1st-person shooters? If so then you'll be sorely disappointed in that Radeon 9600 Pro. I would have grabbed a 128MB Radeon 9800 Pro for $200 U.S. and happily gamed until I got a Radeon X800 XT in a few months and it'll have more resale value by far. Just my thoughts on the subject.:)
