I bought a 9600xt about a week ago. Tried it in one machine at home and the drivers wouldn't load with the current windows install. Reloaded XP and now the card worked in that computer. Used it to play EQ2 and keep getting "Hardware exceleration failed" messages, then game crashes.
Specs for this rig:
2Ghz Celeron
1Gb mixed ram 1x512 , 2x256
obviously the 9600xt
Abit VT7 (I think that's the board, it's not my machine)
After all that I tried the card in my rig (see the sig for parts) and now all I get is the machine starts, I log in, see about 2 seconds of desktop, monitor goes to stand by. I haven't reloaded the OS for my machine and I'd like to avoid it if possible.
You guys have any suggestions? Maybe a driver cleaner? My main concern is I want to know if the card is fried or not. Any help is appreciated.
