9600xt & 250watt psu

it should unless you have a lot more hooked up to it...they don't need an external power connector so they are limited to what they can draw through the mobo.

If the load of your system is 220W then the 250W power supply should be fine as long as it actually outputs 250W at load.

you should have no problems...i have a generic hp 250watt psu and im running fine with an radeon 9550@9600pro

nope, look at the 12v+ (imo)
i had delta 250w in compaq 5010us
no prob running oc gigabyte 8500 le
no prob running ti 4200
both times running 1 dvd + 1 cdrw + 40g + 80g
installed 9500 pro and wd 120g 8mb, removed 40g +80g...
problem!
what was on the +12V? 8A...

hey baddog,
what is your other system components now?
this situation will also depend on your other parts and how much power they draw out from the psu

would a 250watt HP generic power supply handle a 9600pro or 9600xt?

First, I don't think HP uses "generic" PSU's. That would be asking for Warranty problems, so they no doubt have a pretty good unit even at a rating of 250watt's on the label. I think HP uses Bestec brand PSU's and they are very well built from my limited experience with them.

Should work fine depending on what else you have spinning all at once in there 🙂

bestec is alright -- the emachines a friend gave me has a 250w that is 13A on +12V
but my mom's hp 7915 has a delta ps
