Looks good. How does it overclock? How does the 9600XT compare to the 9600Pro?

100MHz faster core clock (plus core monitoring, "RV360" core) and the same memory clock speed (600MHz). Any game/resolution (w/ or w/o FSAA & AF) that is limited by memory bandwidth already will not run faster on a 9600XT than on a 9600 Pro.

But since this 9600XT is cheaper than any real (non-EZ) 9600 Pro, this is a good deal. Plus if it really does come with HL2, this is an awesome deal. The press release is pretty old and I don't see any other mention of the deal on CompUSA or VT's site.

Comes with tax for most states (on $162), but still the cheapest price it's been at yet. I got in on this as well. It does indeed come with the HL2 coupon, and also with a mail-in rebate for a year of some computer game magazine (not sure exactly which one). Now, I'm not sure but I think only built by ATI cards support the OverDrive feature, due to something about the reference design, but don't quote me on this. Still it's a really good deal either way. :)

pcstats review of the Gigabyte GV-R96X128D

"If you have an older PC, please keep in mind that while this is a mainstream videocard, the Gigabyte GV-R96X128D is not 2x AGP compatible! There's no 2x AGP key, and any attempt to make it fit will probably just result in a fried motherboard once you turn the system on. "

Although newegg shows it includes BUS: AGP 1X/2X/4X/8X

was just curious if this was an issue with the VisionTek

Keep in mind that any deal posted for CompUSA can be lessened by 10 dollars. I know everyone hates AOL, but if you sign up for a "dummy" account at the store you get a 10 dollar gift card and all you have to do is call up AOLs office and yell at em about how you hate their service. You don't even have to use the account or put it on your computer. We have employees do it all the time and get 10 bucks off. With video cards and stuff too, if you get a replacement plan on it and overclock to your hearts content. If you fry the card at all, just take it back to the store and they'll give you the same card or the next version up with similar features. For the XT it would only be 18 bucks for two years, and you know that it will be either fried or a newer card will be out by then..... PM me if you have any questions guys, they really are great deals!

Don't you think it's a little dishonest to put it mildly. Too much time waisted for a mere $10.00 too

My request was harmless. The UPC code is the same for all the Visiontek 9600XT. I'm not trying to steal your code or your rebate. I have my receipt but tossed out the box. The rebate form says a UPC copy is acceptable. If you don't wish to help, please move on. Personal attacks are unnecessary.

And no, this is not my first post. I had a previous account that I've forgotten about. I stop posting because people are sometimes just rude.

Thank you for your 2 cents though.

The package includes the card, a quick install guide, 3D demos, Catalyst drivers, cables and adapters, a 1 year subscription to Computer Games magazine, and the HL2 coupon.

The AGP requirements are AGP 2X (3.3V), 4X (1.5V), 8X (0.8V), or Universal AGP 3.0 bus configuration (2X/4X/8X).

Unlike the card in the Keanu Reeves ATI All in Wonder 9600 Pro thread, this card has VGA, DVI-I, and TV/S video connectors.
