9600se for $129 includes HL2!

I went in to BB today and found that the new 9600se was on the shelf (10 or more) and on the box it says that a coupon for Half Life 2 is in the box! They had the 9800XT also and it had a HL2 but is $499. The 9600se is the best card you can get for the money and with a fifty dollar game thrown in, I would say this is UBER-HOT!

Of course the game isnt yet available but when it is, the coupon is for the FULL multiplayer game!

SE, not XT as it wont be out till next week Im told. Expect the 9600se to perform in the range of an nvidia 5600non-ultra for most games and on par with 5600 ultra for DirectX 9 games.

Hi All,
How does this card compare to the 8500le w/64 meg. If I'm not mistaken the 8500 le I have has the 3.3 sec ram
Thanks for your help
Ed

I found a comparison chart for the 9600 product line. The 9600se is one level below the 9600 non-pro because it only has a 64 bit memory interface.

9600 Models

I hope this information helps.

Yeah, I wouldn't recommend getting this card solely to get a "free" copy of HL2. By the time it's actually been released, there will be another generation of cards available and this particular one will sell for about $40 on newegg.

I'm not very familiar with the 9600se but I have the AIW 9600pro and my last card was an AIW 8500 128mb. I can say that the 9600 is much faster. Plus, you get DirectX 9 support. The 9600pro is the best vid card upgrade I have made yet.

Oh... I still assume that the 9600se would be faster, but maybe not not worth the upgrade unless you find a good price, especially since HL2 is a way off. DirectX 9 is still a bonus though.

how is this hot?

you pay a premium for a cutting edge card TODAY that will be worth a lot less when (if) HL2 comes out?
PLUS, you are also paying for a coupon where the product isn't even made yet??
