I just upgraded to an ATI 9600 Pro. In doing so, I did a completely new install of Window XP Pro.
I'm running the following:
Shuttle Via KT266 System Board
AMD XP 1800+
512Meg
ATI 9600Pro (not overclocked)
350 Watt PS
Windows Xp Pro with all the latest fixes
Latest Via 4in1 Drivers
Catalyst 3.4 Driver
Battlefield 1942 Ver 1.31
When playing BF1942, I'm getting distorted video when I look or move into certain locations. Please see the link to the zip file for some examples. (Should the link work)
Zip File
It happens about 50% of the time. Sometime everything is fine, other times I get the screwed up Video.
I've tried, deinstalling the ATI 3.4 drivers, reinstalling DirectX9.0a, reinstalling the ATI driver 3.4. I've also tried Catalyst Ver 3.3. I've tried running BF1942 at 640x480x16 with all the setting down to nothing. I've also tried removing the Via 4in1 AGP driver Nothing seems to fix this problem.
I'm playing or tried the following programs with no issues at all:
Star Trek Elite Force II Demo
Star Wars Galaxies Beta
Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory
All the ATI DirectX 9 Demos
3DMark03
nVidia Dawn Demo with the ATI Wrapper
I've been working with EA support via email, but they just give me basic canned answers.
Some people suggested my card may be bad, but since I'm not having issues with any other programs, I can't really see that to be the case.
Does anyone have any suggestions that I may not have tried? I'm about to try the Catalyst Ver 3.1 Driver, but I doubt that will fix this issue.
Thanks
Dave
