Is my card or motherboard that is getting stuck at 4x. I have fastwrite and 8x AGP enabled in the bios. When I go into smartgart It will let me change the AGP settings to 8x but upon re-start it will stillb e at 4x. Is teh smartgart menu it reads as AGP setting off and fastwrite off. what do I need to do to fix this?

I really gotta find out what the problem is soon as I have a 9800pro coming in tommorrow and if it is the mobo then I wanna have it fixed before I try to install it.

Perhaps you need to reinstall the NVGART. You could take the opportunity to uninstall the entire NF2 chipset driver package, run driver cleaner, and reinstall all the drivers.

I wouldn't be too worried since 8X is not any faster than 4X. It should work if it's an 8X moboard, but you aren't losing anything at all at 4X.

Ahh, just reread your post. It's a bit confusing, but if you don't have AGP at all, as in it's disabled in dxdiag, then you do need to do as suggested.
