9600pro 3.9 Catalyst issues.....and Qs

Seems like everytime I load 3.0 Catalyst my computer doesn't perform as well and it looses picture quality.

Correct me if Im wrong here but I picked XP>Graphic Drivers> Radeon Family from ATi website....Im not sure if I was supposed to picks something else. I don't get why these driversa are not card specific. Please let me know if Im just downloading the wrong drivers.

I did this 3 times already. Uninstalled old software and installed 3.9. And everytime I dont like the results. First of all it reads my card as 9600 Radeon not 9600 pro after install. Is that suppose to happen?

So for the 3rd time I put back the drivers that came with the card....its what seems to work best for me.

Also can someone point me out to a link on overclocking my card. I never did it....would like to try. Im not sure how to do it either. Is 9600pro a good overclocker? And is there any risks......and what kind of performance gain should I expect?

Thanks!

From almost everything I've herad, the 3.9 cats are subpar compared to the 3.8s. I can't speak from personal experience...I don't own a Radeon card at the moment.

Anyway, give the 3.8 catalysts a try - they are, at the moment, the best ATi drivers out there, or so I hear.

I prefer 3.9s over the 3.8s,anyway you have a few options available, first is to wait for the very soon to be released 3.10s or try the Omega 3.9 drivers.

I would recommend you run Driver Cleaner to ensure the cleanest install(might help with image quality as well).
