last night i was checking temps with GPUz and noticed that the cores got up to nearly 70C and the fans were still WAY down, so i went into RivaTuner and looked and they were at like 30% so i forced them to 100%, well as soon as i did that they would run up to full speed and then come back down to 30%

ive heard of people complaining about these cards being loud but since mine unless ive manually forced them to speed up, the fans have never been audible to me. but once they are at 100% they are fairly loud and move some air.

am i doing something wrong?

Thats fine mate, i tested mine and my fan didnt increase at all until it hit 65Degree's and even then it was somthing like a 2% fan increase.

You 9600GT is ok so dont worry. :)

oh and in regards to Rivatuner mine is a bit up the wall somtimes it will stay at 100% when ive moved the slider somtimes it drops back.

My 8800 GT used to reach 86 C and the fan didn't go over 30%, so I guess your card works pretty normal.

is there a way to make a fan profile in rivatuner like you can in ati tool? i had an X800GTO2 with an Arctic Cooler on it before this card and i had made a fan profile so that it would basically turn the fan up as soon as it went under load and once it got to like 60*C it would be 75% and 65C was 100%

70C is nothing to worry about. If it hits 95C and it's still running slow, then I'd say there's something wrong.
