I was unable to wake my monitor from standby mode, and powering off and powering on again, I didn't get any display, but I could tell that Windows was still loading up via the HD light.

Actually, this may not be true, I just realize that I didn't hear the bootup sounds either, although it clearly was booting up, because after I waited for the HD light to stop blinking, I could press the power switch once, and then there was a flurry of HD activity, and then it turned off.

My sound is plugged into my monitor's speakers. So either the monitor doesn't play sound, when no input is detected, or possibly my monitor went defective.

I unplugged the monitor and plugged it back in again to reset it.

Edit: Just tried a different monitor, it appears that the video card is dead.

Yeah....I guess you're card is gone.

I have a 9600GSO. I had heat issues with my X850 Pro, and I must have had it left without a cooler for at least a few hours before I was aware that there was something wrong since I hadn't been at my computer (the fan died while I was away, and while I used it, but hadn't noticed). It still worked fine after though.

Maybe try to pick up a new card then?
