get the 9600 XT. you wont find any performance difference between the 128 and 256mb on anything lower then a radeon 9800 pro. the 256mb noted on the radeon 9600 pro and lower is just a way to market to people. most people buy cards based on numbers, not on benchmarks, which is pretty sad.
save your money then. its really not worth getting the 9600 XT unless you have to. the radeon 9800 pro isnt that much more either, so if you want a card taht'll last far longer on future games then the 9600, then get the 9800. it has double the pipelines.
ok so u are saing that if I get 9600 none pro I will be avalible to play far cry etc? untill I do a better upgrade? please let me know cuz I'm going to pay for the video card now and thaanks again to all that reply to me .
no, i'm saying dont spend any money on any 9600 series cards. get a radeon 9800 pro, but since cawchy87 seems to have a 9600xt for a pretty good price, get his if you want. otherwise, save your money to get a 9800 pro.
as you can see from the benchmarks cawnchy provided, the radeon 9800 pro is high end and kills hte radeon 9600 pro and xt. the 9800 pro costs only $200 at newegg which is the best buy you could get on any video card now at retail price.
