9600 pro vs. ti4200

so? try running aa and af in games that HAVE dx9 capabilites with the 9600 pro. it will be a powerpoint presentation.... id rather have a 4200 any day...

my 9600 clocked at 500/375 and plays all dx9 games w/ AA and FSAA. 9600 pro is just plain faster than a 4200

i dont know where you got the idea that the 4200 benches better:

in the anandtech review, with no AA the 9600 pro won a majority of the benchies (something like 15/22)
with AA on, the 9600 pro beat the 4200 on ALL the benchies and by a landslide not just a few FPS. infact, it beat the 4600 in all the benchies as well
with AA and FSAA, it KILLED both the 4200 and 4600. DOUBLING the 4200's scores at times

also, keep this in mind: you get a good 4200 and overclock to lets say a 4600, you STILL lose to 9600 pro at stock with AA and FSAA. You overclock the 9600 pro, it will absolutely destroy the 4200/4400/4600

Uh..wtf? I don't know what it is with all these people claiming a ti4200 is faster without AA/AF. A 9600 pro is faster than a ti4200 in ALL benchmarks. With AA and AF enabled it gets an even bigger lead. Unless you're trying to save $50 you'll be better off with a 9600 pro.
 
A 9600P is on par with a 4400 without AA or AF, and much faster once you turn up the aftermarket IQ.

But then, you'll pay extra for a 9600P.

I'll trade you my Asus V8420S for a 9600 Pro... it runs perfectly stable at 325/650... faster than a Ti4600.

If you were to compare retail prices, the 8420s is priced about the same as the 9600Pro.
 
Shouldnt be a surprise the Ti4200 is slower than the 9600 Pro with AF\FSAA. The GF4 core does AF at all angles to the fullest extent. This is above and beyond what the 9600 Pro, 9800 Pro, and any of the FX cards do.

Toasting depends on how you look at it I suppose.

But the last review I read over at Toms had the Ti4200 pretty close to the 9600 Pro on most things. Ti4600 was faster for the most part. I think Ti4400 speeds are pretty much a given with a 9600 pro.

And what DX9 games do you run?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? I heard one is coming out but the only thing I know that really uses DX9 is 3dmark03 and it is only in one of the "game" benchmarks.



 
The 9600 pro is a far better card, but I just spent $79 on a ti4200. If price is a factor, the cheapest ti4200 is a better buy than the cheapest 9600 pro.
