I recently bought a 9600 pro advantage, it was cheap, and it plays battlfield 2 fine, but I tried to play diablo 2 and got direct 3d errors. I saw that it was still recognizing my old card so I reinstalled. Same error so I got the newest driver and it started to play. Now I rewatched the whole beginning movie and then went to play and it puts the monitor in sleep mode, but I can still hear the music. So I restart and try battfield thinking maybe it was overheating so it works fine. So back into Diablo and and it last a little longer this time and then samething. Is this a driver issue or hardware, I have never seen anything like this before so I am confused.

What motherboard and PSU? I had a system run fine until the AGP controller went bad and it took me six months to identify the issue.

Run DX Diag, if there are any probs it's likely a driver issue.

I don't play Diablo 2,so any patches you might need?

Run your games in Windowed mode to determine if the game just isn't trying a resolution + refresh to high for the monitor. If it works in windows mode, you probably found your answer.
