A couple companies have lite version of the 9600 Pro. It appears that the core runs at the Pro clock speed of 400, but the memory is 2x200 Mhz instead of 2x300 Mhz like a true 9600 Pro.

Does anybody have one of these, and if so how's the performance?

Looking at those specs 9600Pro will blow the lite version in bandwich demanding aplications, so you better buy the real Pro. Future games will run much better, and of course those ones using AA/AF.

I'm sure with 2/3 the mem bandwidth, it's slower. I was just wondering how much slower. Right now I'm running a 9100 and it blows goats. It's a Powercolor running at 250 core, 183 mem. The most I could get out of that RAM was about 200 before it started artifacting.

So you currently have an 8500lelele (8500 neutered by crap memory).

You're thinking of getting a 9600 Prole (9600 Pro neutered by crap memory).

Sounds like a 9600np with the core pumped would be as good or better.

Prices on all three where you are?

I know, I know. I'm a cheap bastard. But I'm upgrading two machines and I hate to spend money on computer parts. I won't fork out tons of cash for something that depreciates faster than a Kia. My girlfriend and I both play Star Wars Galaxies, and I'm trying get better performance without spending $200+ per computer. That gets spendy.

Now that I've looked around a little more, the real Pro can be had for less than $20 more. So nevermind. But thanks anyway.
