9600 pro / FP2001 incompatability at 1600x1200

While enjoying my new dell 2001FP it became apparent that my monitor was having some sync problems at a 1600x1200 resolution at 60hz while using a DVI connection. I checked cables and such and then started researching. This thread at another forum site seems to point to the root of my issues.
It states that reducing the DVI frequency on the ATI Cat drivers helps the monitor stay synced to the signal.

However I would like to know what effect checking "reduce DVI frequency? would have on the refresh rate of a DVI connected LCD with issues such as eye strain and actual refresh rates on the screen.

Not sure, but in the Catalyst control panel, under Options, there's a tickbox to "reduce DVI frequency on high-resolution displays". Not owning an LCD screen I can't comment, but why not give it a try and see what it does for you? 🙂

Yes, check the reduce DVI frequency box. It does no harm to your card, your monitor won't go out of sync(get the "shimmering effect") anymore either.

LCDs don't, or shouldn't, cause eye strain.

LCD refresh rates are irrelevant.

If that doesn't help,

I sometimes find that "use alternate DVI mode" helps sometimes as well.

My LCD at 1280x1024, 60 hz = headache, at 75hz, no headache. I use an analog connection though.
