9600 pro compatibility question

hi guys,

as u may have noticed, im brand new to the forums, although i've been reading the site for a long time now. i've been contemplating an upgrade to the 9600 pro, however, im not sure if my motherboard supports it. so here goes the question, and if it is stupid, i apologize in advance.

will a newer, more advanced card, with newer features such as 8x agp, run on an older motherboard, which supports only up to 4x?

more specifically, will a radeon 9600 pro run on an asus a7m-266 (based on the amd 760 chipset i believe)?

thx,

yes, you can run it on a 4x board

welcome to the forums

No, there are 8x AGP cards that do run 2x or even 1x. The 9600 series is not among those, though. 8x/4x ONLY.
