9600 np vs 9500 pro

Forgive my ignorance here but I am a little confused. I currently own a radeon 9600 that is oc'd to 475/375 with 128mb memory. I am contemplating going to a stock speed 9500pro 128mb. Which is the better performer? Doesn't the 9500 have 8 pipelines as opposed to 4 for the 9600?

Im pretty sure the 9500pro would own your current card hardcore. However, i have never overclocked a 9600np, but i think its probable that your overclocking narrows the gap. To be honest, i doubt it would really be worth it. Just wait a little while for 9700s to drop in price, or just spend a bit more so your upgrade will actually be worth it. (I have seen 9700s go for as little as $185 around here)

R9500Pro all the way... R9500PRo is even faster than 9600PRO.

the 9500 pro is faster but I wouldn't spend much money on an upgrade for it unless its like 20 bucks.

The 9500 Pro is somewhere on the level of the 9600 XT (higher if you overclock/softmod it).

9600 = 325MHz, 4 pipelines.
9500 Pro = 275MHz, 8 pipelines (about even with a 9600 at 550MHz)
Get a 9600 Pro, 9500 Pro or 9600 XT...the 9600 and 9500np are not worth it.

That's a pretty large overclock. I believe the 9600np is just an underclocked version of the card, so you should've closed the gap in performance with the better mid-range cards.

I'm surprised at the memory overclock! From 200MHz to 375MHz, this should make ur card faster then a stock 9600pro!
The 9600pro is clocked at 400/300, the XT at 500/300. Your overclock should probably make ur card perform pretty close to the 9600XT, which performs well against the 9500pro.

So I would suggest against getting the 9500pro in your case, unless it's for next to nothing.
