9600 help please

i recently purchased an ati 9600 pro vga card.
after a little tweaking i got it to go quite well and was happy.
then all of the sudden i started getting stutters in 3d apps and performance test full screen dx9 test went from over 500 fps to 65 fps :shocked:
i still get 2600 aquamarks but its seemingly getting worse. i have tried every combination of drivers and settings i could think of even changeing the agp bus speed "ever so carefully mind you" and latency did no good
i have done as complete an uninstall/re-install as you can without removing the card from the system. is xp broken? i bet it is.


please any thoughts would help

just back from a fresh install of xp and everything is in the green again stutter gone. i wonder if nvidias pci smbus and others dont do more damage than good . im running without them and things seem smoother. strange days indeed
