Hey guys,

with the fall in price of the 9600 (384MB), I'm considering running two of them in SLI instead of a single 9800GT. I'll be upgrading from my old 7800GS, which is struggling heavily with games such as Gears of War and Crysis.

I haven't been able to find any solid benchmarks on how much SLI actually improves frame rates, but if anyone has any experience or suggestions it would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I'd be worried about the 384 MB of RAM. Probably be better to just stick to a single card with more RAM.

9600GSO is the card you are referring to right?

Id say a single HD4850, or 9800GTX+ will be better unless its not within your budget.

Well my single 9600GSO 384mb was able to play gears at all high 1680x1050 no sweat. Got around 25-40fps on average which is good enough because of motion blur.

I was going to try to SLI with another but I have not found one game it cant handle. If you snatch up 2 of the EVGA ones for $50AR each, you would have a nice little setup.

Same boat here. I have three SLI boards so I finally decided to make use of both slots on at least one of them. The SLI replaces a 7900GS on my spare gamer rig, and that setup is on a WS 19" LCD @ 1440x900, so the 384 VRAM limitation isn't that big of a deal.
Wasn't able to find any benchies either, but I'd guess that its near 9800 speeds ingame.
