For some reason while setting still and the van is idling it will rev up on its own. If your not holding the brake good it will jump 2 feet or more. It gives itself gas even when I ain't touching the gas peddle. Had it checked out at Advanced and the code came back saying one side of the engine was running leaning or something.

Anyone have any ideas whats causing this and if it would cost alot to fix? Doesn't do it all the time. But sometimes it does it alot.

Check the IAC motor/valve. Its a common problem on Ford vehicles. Should be $50-60 at any parts store

As a mater of fact my Escort did this just before it commited suicide.
It could also be a leaking intake gasket, but that is less likely.

Fix the fuel distribution problem (That's what "part of the engine is running lean" means.) That could potentially confuse the tarballs out of the ECU - considering it's a Ford and all. And it's not a good thing to have happening, anyway.

Depends on what the actual problem is. All we know is the symptoms and potential causes of the symptoms. Go to a mechanic and get them to look at it.

if it says "Ford" on the front of the vehicle then that's probably it. the part costs about $30,000 to replace.
