Does anyone know if new 955x with two pci-e x16 and x4 can support x16 video card and x8 scsi card such and lsi mega raid or intel scsi.
building system using
asus 955x board, 4gig ocz ddr2, 4 15k cheetah (raid 0), using lsi megaraid MegaRAID SCSI 320-2x. I need to know if second pci-e will work properly with x16 graphics card.

i have not seen any review with this kind of set-up. contacted lsi asus intel they all say their product was not tested with this board.

It's SCSI not SCS1.

As far as I've seen, LSI's cards appear to be 4x PCIE.

that was typo. but the card is x8:
The first-to-market MegaRAID Ultra320 PCI Express RAID adapter enables a robust, effective and high-bandwidth server and storage solution. This dual-channel Ultra320 SCSI adapter in a half-size PCI form factor supports an x8 PCI Express host interface. With its superior bandwidth for component communications and a much simpler internal design, PCI Express MegaRAID storage adapters address the growing demand for higher storage device throughput and scalability requirements across midrange and enterprise class server platforms.

Is that card equal or better than a LSI 320-2X controller ?

Don't know about the intel mobo's , but my DFI Ultra-D manual states that the extra 8x pci-e won't work w/ a non video card. But the SLI version will work.
That means you could use the LSI pci-e in the 8x video slot on the DFI SLI mobo.

The Asus P5WD2 has one pci-e x16 slot and one universal pci-e slot which can be x4. So, I do not believe you want to go with this board for your purposes. Currently, Intel does not have a solution that allows you to use pci-e x16 and x8 simultaneouly. I believe the current Intel NF4 SLI solutions only do pci-e x8 x8.

intel BOX/BLK955XBKLKR mb has two Pci-e x16 and intel raid controller SRCU42E is x8
but intel only certify the raid controller to work on their server board. and did not test it on asus board. i would be ok with x16 video and x4 scsi card. the LSI x8 can run as x4 and x2. and intel also. i just want make it will work before purchasing. do not want NF4 board. prefer to stay with asus P5WD2 . These are high end part, need assurance they will work together.

320-2x is 64bit pci-x/32bit pci card, pci-e x4 should have better throughput. plan on running 4 seagate cheetah 15K in raid 0. I want max throughout, no hinderance from hard drive sub system.

The LSI pci-e card says that's its a 8x pci-e and has 4GB/s in dual simplex mode. While I can't find any specs on the throughput on the 320-2X card but it runs 64bit/133mhz..

I plan on running 10 - 15k 36g Fujistu MAS hd's in raid 5, in a K8W , this should be very fast also...
