The screen just goes blurry as if it was degaussed and will return to normal after the cracking sound. Is this okie? This is a new monitor and I've been running it for a whole day and encountered it twice. I heard that the 955Df flickers. IS this what they meant??

Okie, it's not flicker. I did not off the monitor for the whole day now. The whole screen just become blurry and *Pak* the crackling sounds appear and everything would go back to normal. I've just sent back one for a replacement. Don't tell me I've got to send this one back again. :(

All CRT's are leaky to a very small degree. What you are hearing is an arc inside the tube as the invading particles are captured. The tube has likely sat for a while. The arcing should become less and less frequent until it becomes a rather rare event. This is all normal.

Arc?? care to clarify that? I think I'm having that problem. I guess that the tube is taking time to warm up and work at it's optimal performance and with me burning it for 13 hours flat in a day is not a good choice? It happened 4 times today. The monitor before this which was a 955DF too had this thingy.

That's it. THe god damn monitor went before readable and the screen is so fuzzy until I have to use my Samsung 750s back. This is sh*t. I believe that Samsung has one of the worse quality control!

Air molecules accummulate in the tube until there is a high voltage arc across the elements inside the tube. This captures the air molecules and afixes them to the internal parts and clears the condition. If the tube has been turned off for a length of time there may be enough air leaked inside the tube that it takes several discharges to clear it. This happens in all CRT's to some degree including TV's and monitors. When some TV's are turned on it sounds like somebody crushing cellophane with there hands the crackeling is so loud. This is the sound of internal arcing in the tube as leaked air molecules are captured. If your monitor is fuzzy and the sound of the arcing is loud you probably have the brightness turned up very high. Turning the brightness down a little improves the focus of any CRT. I thought everyone in electronics knew about this, at least anyone who has been to an electronics school. The leakage happens because it is not possible to get a perfect seal where the metal pins go through the glass neck to the electron guns inside. Also the lightest molecules such as hydrogen can migrate right through glass.

99% likely if they sent you a bad monitor, it was fine when they shipped it and UPS killed it.

Monitors send individually tend to have issues.

Haven't read anything up on arc before but it was well explained. Thank you for that.

The monitor is so fuzzy and blur now. I've already packed it up and asked for another replacement. It's already the third in a month! It does not blur out in dos mode but everything is blurry in windows.
