I want to build a system to do low load NT personal web hosting 24x7 ..

950 Mhz Duron
ECS k7s5a motheboard
Evercase or Antec Case
etc

What else do I need? thermal compound? fans? and I missing something? I'm used to building Intel systems .. seems AMD systems are much more technically complicated? anyway .. all guidance is appreciated ..

don't want to spend too much though ..

thanks

nope, they are pretty much the same....ram, hd, nic, video, etc etc etc etc. you can choose standard or ddr sdram for the ram. and yeah, i'd say get some thermal compound. it isn't needed, but it's nice to have. just apply a thin layer to the heatsink and you are done. no real difference :)

if you're going to use that ecs mobo... make sure you get a decent powersupply.

dont' get anything lower than 180w on combined 3.3+5v.
if youre going to o/c your system... get something around TCO 210-220+W.
it'll definately come in handy... since it'll give you a steady and clean wattage.

i'm using duron 950 for my htpc... you can check out my rig.

i'm using enhance 350w from newegg.
it's got TCO 220w.

get artic silver II. (thermal compound)
and for hsf... try alpha with Paps L1A.

with proper skills... you can make your duron go pretty fast.
