9500PRO or GF4 Ti4800SE?

So am looking for a video card to put in my new system that will be Barton 2500+. I have narrowed it down to these two cards:

Asus v9480-TVD GF4 Ti4800SE 128MB DDR 8xAGP w/VIVO Retail

Sapphire Radeon 9500Pro 128M DDR, 275/250, VGA, DVI, TV-O, AGP8x retail

They are both the same price from the store I am looking at so the Price aspect does not matter. I am leaning towards the 9500 as I have heard that it is really just an underclocked 9700. What one would be best?

Why not just get the 9500 pro? The 9500 will probably do better with aa/af and it supports dx9. Lots of people have the cards and supposedly the drivers are quite good, haven't seen many complaints.

That's a no brainer, 9500 PRO. Overclock it using rivatuner and get 9700 performance.🙂 BTW with FSAA/AA turned on the 9500 dominates the TI4800.

Mwave has the ATI 9500 PRO OEM 128MB for $172.

Alright, it seems like the 9500 PRO is the best hands down. www.atic.ca has the Sapphire Radeon 9500Pro Retail for $168 Canadian. Seems like an amazing price as New Egg has the same card but OEM for $177 American.

Well The Ti4800 was from A-power.com and the Radeon was from Atic. After reading those reviews of atic I do not want to buy from there. I have had a few friends that have ordered from A power that have said it is great, and the review on that one website were almost all positive. Only problem is that A-Power does not caryy that 9500. Hmmm...

I live in Canada and it says that they do not ship to Canada, so that wont work. What does Refurbished even mean anyway?

refurbished means someone returned the card and ATI or the manufacturer fixed them up like new and resold it

Another vote for the 9500 PRO, but a suggestion to check out the Radeon 9700 non-pro.

Also, heed what resellerratings.com says about them, I usually find that it paints a pretty good picture of a company.

Excaliberpc.com ships to canada I believe. They are excellent to deal with, as good as newgg/mwave/googlegear.

I say neither.

Purchase a 128mb ATi 9500 (non-pro card) and softmod it to 9700 levels. If you check out the ratings there is a card there for $165 for which the mod has been working well.

Go for the 9500 Pro, that's what I did a couple of weeks back. I've been a long time NVidia user but found that their current crop of cards, even the FX cards, just weren't doing it for me.

I am leaning towards the 9500 as I have heard that it is really just an underclocked 9700.

Do what I did the night I got my 9500 Pro home, go over to the "Radeon Overclocking" message boards at Rage3d.com and flash the BIOS of your 9500 Pro to that of a 9700 Pro. The instructions, programs and BIOS images are available there, after that overclock your video card (I use Radlinker) to your heart's content.
