I want a new card that will last me at least 18 months or so, without breaking the bank. Should I get a 9500pro, or spend the extra money for a 9700np; and if I get the 9700, is the powercolor 9700 any good?

Normally I only buy from Newegg, but they don't sell a Saphire 9700. Only a Powercolor, and a Transcend. Anyone know about the Powercolor, or a good place to get a Saphire?

I'd say powercolor would be fine. Honestly if you have the money the sapphire oem 9800np is a pretty good deal, 265 & free shipping, and it will probably be viable a lot longer if you overclock it to pro speeds. Its essentially even with a 9700 pro at stock speeds and a lower price.

I first started looking at a 9600 pro, then read several posts that said go with the 9500 pro instead. Then I switched to liking the 9700 np. Now I'm looking at a 9800 np. I've got to cut myself off at some point. Is it really worth an extra $100 to go from a 9600 pro to a 9800 np? This is starting to make me dizzy, lol.

It just depends on what your price range is. Everyone says that the GF Ti4200 is a great price vs. performance deal, I think it's a little over $100 now, so if thats how much you've got to spend then theres your bargain. Set yourself a price ceiling and do some research with reviews and comparisons to find which card is the best deal for you.
