9500 Pro Issue

9500 Pro keeps locking up on me no matter what game i run ie Unreal II, Unreal Tournament, Medal Of Honor the system just locks up or the screen will get all garbled up and be unrecognizable. ive also noticed that it has happened upon boot i ended up reinstalling XP Pro and applied service pack and updates but still same problems.
also no IRQ conflicts and latest drivers from ATI running at 4X ( it use to work at 8X but had to lower due to problem at hand ) im going to RMA it but just wondering if any one has encountered any of this???

I also experience the garbled text during boot-up with my Radeon 9500 Pro and Asus A7V8X mobo under Windows ME. Specifically, the table showing the system configuration sometimes has flickering characters or fairly heavily garbled symbols. This doesn't happen all the time, though,and I understand that it is actually a fairly common problem on these cards. Some claim it goes away if you lower the AGP to 4X in the BIOS, as you mentioned, but it didn't work for me either.

That being said, I have never experienced any problems in any game or benchmark I've ever tried (including Unreal II and UT2K3). I've had the card for 3 months now, and I use my computer all day long (although I usually only play the games in the evening), so I would have noticed any unsual behaviour.

It definitely sounds like you may have a defective card. I would RMA it and get a replacement.
