Since most of the users on AT are very computer-proficient, I figured I'll try this. Maybe some of us are also proficient in Japanese computers with 4 wheels.

<FONT class=nf face=Verdana>Hello everybody,

The ABS light on my baby came up. I have been trying to locate the diagnostic connector to check ABS codes but so far have been unsuccessful.

I found a white 2-pin connector behind the center console on the driver's side. I tried to short it to read codes, but only the SRS light flashed.

There are two blue connectors (a 2-wire and a 3-wire ones) next to the white one. However, they are plugged into something.

Which one of this will flash ABS fault codes when shorted? Do I need to unplug a blue connectore from whatever it is plugged into and then short it?

Please help me before the airbag blows into my face and/or the dealer charges me an arm and a leg to diagnose and fix the problem.

Thanks.</FONT>

Can't help ya out, but you might want to try the Prelude forum on SuperHonda. They're usually good at answering technical stuff on Hondas. :)

Nothing will flash codes when it is shorted.

only some OBDI engine control computers will do that.

this is one of the reasons some knowledge is worse than no knowledge. Some auto parts stores will diagnose check engine lights for nothing.

I must say this. This is only the second time I have ever done this, and the first was to Jerboy. (AFAIK)

YOU ARE AN IDIOT

You do not just go shorting connectors in the hope that something will blink codes for you to read. Besides, you still need a book to look up the coads anyway, and I am sure that book will tell you how to get the codes out of the computer. You could easily blow the airbag by playing around and shorting the wrong connector. ( WTF you think SRS stands for?) Your little $5 problem just became a $2000 one. Get your ass out from under that car and have someone do it for you with a scanner before you hurt yourself, others, and my insurance premiums.

<edit>
Please Please tell me you were just joking.

You know evadman, my first reaction was to flame you back, but I figured I'll reserve my comments. If you grew so old to wear a gray beard and still go around making such judgemental comments, you are hardly worth my time.

Maybe you should check this site:

http://www.bba-reman.com/hondaalb2computer.htm.

The only piece of info that's missing from that document is the location of the "diagnostic socket terminals". This is what I am looking for. So, thank you to Imported and any other user who might provide useful information and no thanks to Evadman. You Evadman might want to reserve this kind of tone to your kids if they bother to listen.

And I am not jocking.
