95 camry ashtray light

anyone know the ins and outs of replacing the bulb in this vehicle?

after tons of research, i can't believe no one has the answer to this.

so, here i am, asking the experts.

The bulb is on the TOP of the ashtray. So you likely need to remove the trim around where the ashtray is. This is usually held on with clips and should pop off. Then you can get to the lamp bulb.

many thanks. and, yes, it's old, but runs good and is mostly driven at night. ashes all over the console realy sux.

wow, i didnt even know there was an ashtray light! you have to disassemble the center console, use a flathead screwdriver and pop the lower right plastic part off, from there you will be able to access it *i think*. check out toyotanation.com they have an extensive 3rd generation toyota camry forum.

and yeah, the 96 camry is still a badass car. still nicer than many cars made today :thumbsup:

Do new cars just not have ash trays anymore? I'm pretty sure that my Honda doesn't have one.

Unless you get a "smoker's package", they won't.

They make it clear those containers are "NOT AN ASHTRAY" :D

UPDATE
pretty simple. popped off the trim, 4 screws holding the radio in (easy to get at) and there she was. 2.99 @ autozone for a 2 pack of #74 bulbs.

all in all, probably 20 minutes, including the drive to and from autozone (2 miles away).

many thanks to those who had helpful suggestions.
