95.3 MB emails

I recently had to reformat a computer that used gotomypc.com. It had acquired various malware and spyware that was casuing performance to suffer tremendously. THe computer uses Windows XP SP2.

Here's what happened:

Outlook 2003 would continuously try to download a 95.3 MB emails. Upon reaching 95.2 MB, it would stall endlessly and the Add/Remove programs would fill up with hundreds of seemingly junk programs.

After reformatting once a few weeks ago, the computer was again set up using gotomypc.com. It was left on overnight and accessed from home the next morning. The same problem with the large emails has returned! It's causing the PC to be completely useless due to its slow performance.

I can't find out from a search what this is and what causes it. Anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

Skip using Outlook and log in to your webmail to blacklist the sender and or his domain. Afterwards you can then delete the large emails.

Malware is contaminating your pc due to your actions, or the actions of another, so please install a quality antivirus (kaspersky), spyware blaster, mvp hosts, ie-spyad, and other preventative tools. Otherwise switch to a limited account.

Is the PC fully patched with all Microsoft updates?
Do you have the standard Microsoft firewall (in SP2) turned on / enabled?
Do you have a router between your PC and the public internet?
Do you have the most recent version of a vendor's antivirus/antispyware app installed?
Why in the world are you using gotomypc.com? It's a major hole for what can easily be done in other ways (remote desktop).

The problem seems to be that my buddy tried to send a 71 MB email and the host server freaked out. It has been sending mailer daemon errors in the neighborhood of 93 to 200 MB repeatedly (16 thus far). This seems to be causing the PST file to grow to such a large size that the entire system slows down.

I''m trying to get in touch with the host so he stops getting these emails constantly.

All the Windows and anti-virus updates are up to date.
