Hi guys, my friend has a 94 100 Wagon that he's looking to fix, then sell immediately :p He says it overheats once it warms up. Since that happened it's since been taken off the road, so I couldn't drive it to see what happens, however we just let it idle in his driveway until the temp gauge got high. He says when he noticed it overheating, there was some steam coming from underneath the hood, lots of it, so the gauge is accurate I'm guessing. I looked under the hood (it's got a V6) and I couldn't even find the thermostat since I was going to replace that for him to see if that helped. The upper rad hose connects to a pipe that wraps around to the back of the engine block  Anyways, does anyone have any links to sites that might give me some pics or diagrams for a thermostat replacement or other coolant related repairs? I'm not having much luck on google.... thanks guys!

Once warmed up, is the upper radiator hose hot?

How is the coolant mix? Maybe he filled it up with 100% anti-freeze?

Try flushing the Radiator?

The radiator may have a large amount of scaling too. It is 10 years old, now.

I hear those Audis are nightmares.

My neighbor has a 90 or 100 in his garage thats been sitting there for years. Physically it looks perfect but he says it just keeps breaking down and he gave up on it.

Iamwiz, he might've topped it off with 100% antifreeze, but the car has run cool up until a couple of months ago. I've been in it plenty of times and the temp gauge never went above 1/4. I didn't touch the upper rad hose, basic thing but I forgot to. I'm wondering if he's got a blockage whether it's gunk or the thermostat

I found some links for my a4's fusebox on the audiworld.com forums. It may be like finding a needle in a haystack there, but it's worth a try.
