Hello all, I've got an asrock 939Dual-SATA2, an x2 165 proc, and 2 1gb sticks of PC3200 from patriot (3200llk). I'm having problems with the memory not being displayed. I've used several BIOS revisions, including some from ocworkbench. I've had the following peculiar results.
OCWorkbench Bios:
v2 - motherboard reports all ram in boot screen in dual channel mode, and in config screen. MemTest also recognizes all the memory, and runs successfully for over an hour. XP Pro only report 1 gig of memory. CPU-Z can tell there are 2 1 gig sticks installed
v3 - same as v2
Official Asrock Bios:
1.9 - 1904 megs of ram reported in dual channel mode on boot screen. Config screen show 2gigs. MemTest fails almost immediately. XP shows 1.85 gigs available, and memtests fail there as well.
1.6 - 1904 megs reported in dual channel on boot and config. XP shows 1gig
A few more potentially pertinent pieces of info:
I also have 4 512 sticks that suffer the same problem, but since they're not all the same (as recommended by Asrock), I'm focusing on the 2 matched 1gb units
I've inserted the 2 1gb sticks into another machine and everything with that system appears fine
I'm using 3 ide drives, 1 cd/dvd, and 2 SATA drives in RAID-0, which is where windows is installed
I have a PCIExpress vid card and an AGP card that are both running at the same time.
I am overclocking, but even at default settings I get the same results. (And even when I o/c, the ram is running at or below spec)
I created an Ubuntu Live CD and checked the memory on what of v2 of the OCWorkbench BIOS, and it also only saw 1gb of memory.
Any thoughts?
