939Dual-SATA2: windows sees 2gig out of 4gig ram

I added 2gig of dual channel to the existing 2 gig dual channel of the same type. The bios shows 4 gig, but windows vista only sees 2 gig as it did before the upgrade. I understand it won't see all 4 gig, but only 2 gig is ridiculous. That's how much it had before the the upgrade.

Any ideas how to get windows more ram? bios upgrade? remove one of the last pair ddr sticks?

Here is the system info:

Vista Ultimate 32 bit
4 gig ddr 400 (adata, dual channel)
939Dual-SATA2
nvidia 256meg 7600gs (pcix)
lite-on dvd+-r
wireless a/b/g

order parts from newegg on 5.15.2006, hanve't upgrade bios from version included.
