I always held that the opty being released on the socket 939 was for these 2 reasons.
Make more money on servers (making people by 2** or 8** series only).

To get Workstation class single socket mobos out.
Now I wonder if its something a bit more sinister. I wonder if AMD plans on using the enthusiest Opty sales as a bullet point in server sales, to partner this with the new lead in the retail computers.
