92mm rear exhaust or 120mm side intake?

I have space for two fans in my case: 1 92mm rear and 1 120mm side. I currenly have 1 120mm front intake. I'm interested in keeping the thing quiet. Sow what's better: the rear exhaust or side intake (or something else)?

I'm guessing if quietness is important, the larger side intake makes more sense?

Any size fan can be quiet, it's just down to what RPM it's spinning at.

I'd probably put a 1200-1500RPM 92mm exhaust and a voltage adapter to downvolt to 5V.

Are you having trouble with temperatures?

Temps are no problem. The cpu idles at 27C, normal usage at 32C, and load can get over 45C. I wanted to keep load temperatures down a bit. The cpu ("apu") is an A10-5800K.

I feel that larger fans are always a better option over smaller ones, however in your case an exhaust fan is more important over 2 intake fans because you don't want to create negative pressure within your case. If your worried about cpu temps, have you considered and aftermarket cooler?

For about 20 bucks you can get a decent cooler, for example here.

What about exhausting the side fan?

I was thinking of grabbing a CM 212 EVO, a bit better than the one you pointed too, and not much more. But I have my fans on the lowest setting, ramping up only when the CPU gets above 45C, and temps are reasonable. So....

Two intakes would create a positive pressure. But I agree, having the exhaust is better - there's already a 120mm intake so it won't create a negative pressure, and it'll have more effect on temps than another intake would.

Good point.
