920 overclock w/Cooler Master V10

I'm new to overclocking but I think I might have nailed it on my 920. The temps look well in line, the spread between the CPU voltage and the DRAM bus voltage is .336 and everything appears to be stable. I'll run Prime95 overnight and see if I encounter any problems, hopefully not but one never knows; at least in my case.

New to OC'ing as well and just got a new 920 rig up and running. Will follow this thread to see how it turns out for you! Congrats!

I just first saw/heard of the Coolermaster V8/V10 yesterday, and looked them up. The V10 certainly looks like a monster! Very interesting design, they came up with a pretty good way to finally use peltier cooling. So, I have to ask, I'm pretty unfamiliar with Intel stuff... 54-59C, are those pretty good temps? What would you expect with the stock cooler with a healthy overclock? I assume the stock cooler won't get to 4GHz, but I'm just curious and looking for a ballpark type number. Thanks! :)

TC, I think I lucked out and got a really good chip and frankly I was a little leery about being one of the first retail users of the V10; especially after reading the review that Tweaktown did. However, to say that I'm impressed with the cooling abilities of my V10's would be a mild understatement.

Prime has been running at max stress for 4 hours now, without a hiccup, so I think it's a stable oc. Now do I try a higher oc, you bet :)

how are the noise levels on the V10 so far? I may consider grabbing one. Congrats with the i7 and goodluck oc'ing :).

TC,

I don't have a sound meter but according to the review that Tweaktown did; 58dB idle and 67dB load. However, Harware Canucks is in the process of completing a review on this cooler and responded to a post I made in their forums regarding the sound levels by stating:

"Thats strange...the v10 I tested was dead silent...even when on a Phenom fireball. The fans are rifle bearing, and are regular 25mm thick 120mm fans. With a bit of PITA factor you could swap em out for FDB, NF-p12s or Scythe Es"

So just for grins I unhooked all my case fans and that didn't reduce the noise level one iota. So then I started to jack up my GTX 285's fans speed and at 58% it seemed to equate to the noise being generated by the V10.

BTRY,

Ambients in the room were 21C/70F and my HAF case was completely closed.

The Cooler Master V8 I have now is very good. They didn't have the V10 when I bought mine back in November or else I would have bought that instead. I may just have to upgrade.

Awesome temps OP. I'm going to throw a Contact Core Freezer on mine but if it doesn't work out too well I may have to look into the V10.

My,

The highest power usage I've yet to see was @ 147

Those overclocks were with 1.35 vcore. That will push your temps somewhat higher than 1.3 will..

My temps with the stock cooler at 3.8 and 1.32v were mid to high 70's .. Well within acceptable levels..

With the Ultra, I stay about 10c cooler..

Nice cooler though ..
