920 cooler question

That's the question. Do I need a 3rd party cooler for this or not?

Will be gettting an Asus P6T Deluxe V2 and an Antec 900 or 1200 case. The OC goal is 3.2-3.6. Does this require a 3rd party cooler or will the stock one do it?

Thanks!

Seconded on the Noctua. I'm running my 920 @ 4ghz on it (using both fans).

However I believe you can do 3.2ghz on the stock cooler just fine...if you get a D0 especially, you wont have to touch the voltages likely. Anything beyond that I would get a 3rd party.

That's what i'm going to use when I get my i7 here in a couple of weeks.
I e-mailed Noctua & they're gonna send me a 1366 mounting kit.
I've got a Yates low speed fan I may hook to it to have a push-pull since there's an extra pair of clips in the box.
In the meantime, I went ahead & lapped it...got that nickel finish off...hope it helps!

The SE is in the mail 🙂

Which way should the fans be set up. My guess is lower fan blows in, upper fan blows out towards the 200mm fan on top of the case. Yes?
