So dl from Nvidia. What are you afraid of?

They wont install on it, said the chipset is not supported (and neither will the nvidia reference drivers for the geforce 7 series laptop chips). It will install using the modded inf from laptopvideo2go, but for some reason it always does not keep my monitor settings when I reset my computer (I use the DVI port on my laptop for my Dell 2001FP when I am at home) and defaults the multimonitor settings everytime.

How do I get higher refresh rates for resolutions above 1024x768?

I would like to use 75hz for 1280x1024.

Coolbits? Refresh rate override, custom resolutions?

As long as your monitor supports it just uncheck the box restricking refresh rates.

XG 91.47's Absolutely destroyed my system!!! Whenever I choose Nvidia Control Panel, it never loads and system becomes SUPER Sluggish until I kill the Control Panel process in Task Manager. AND my sound card drivers will not load anymore.

I just updated to the XG 91.47s and I can definitely tell an improvement in my image quality...even my Windows XP desktop looks crisper. My framerates in games have also gone up around 5-7 FPS.

The NVIDIA 9x.xx drivers are utter garbage for me too. The SLI popup just set the tone. Control panel deadlocks the whole system, and is designed worse than ATI CCC (which is admittedly quite decent). It screws over a clean Windows install too (pci.sys is missing). It takes five seconds for the context menu for the system tray icon to appear. What the hell happened to NVIDIA's QA? I've never had so many problems. I want the 2 hours (reinstalling Windows) of my life back. The 8x.xx drivers were great. I miss the old control panel. All I want now is a conf file. I'm sick of these fisher price grandma interfaces running on .NET with miscellaneous stuff hidden on the side in the form of sentences that lag every time you click on something. The problem is, if I want all the video features (that they promised at the intro of the GF6 series), I need the 9x.xx drivers. argh...

Oh, did I mention I also got "out of range" on my monitor after upgrading to the first official WHQL 9x.xx drivers? I worked around it by going to safe mode and then next time I rebooted it was 60 Hz.

I'm not really sure what to think about the 90's series driver. I use them (XG 91.47) and I like them, just not sure what to think of them.
Maby I should go back to the XG 84.37 (last true and good 80's series driver) and give that a try out. But it DOESN'T HAVE MY DVD ENHANCEMENTS :| (the Nvidia DVD enhancements+ffdshow= the best DVD watching combo :))

I must admit I'm not a fan of the new CP,I always switch back to the classic look,I always use Driver Cleaner in safe mode before I install any video driver,it always finds a few things that the uninstall missed,as for refresh rate adjustment I use Coolbits 2.0.

I actually miss ATI drivers.

What enhancements do we actually lose when using the old control panel?
