90's rock was better than today's rock.

There has just got to be a payola scandal going on right now. How else could that god-awful Green Day Wake Me When This Song Ends song ever get airtime at all let alone heavy rotation? Record companies worry that downloads are killing their profits and then release crap like that, sheesh.

There are tons of crappy songs that end up in heavy rotation, but that is how the system works. Stations get paid to sell new albums, and the best way to sell is to make people think everyone likes the music so you will too (hopefully) and buy it.

I personally think that the worst songs from the best albums/artists (and best songs from the worst albums/artists) ever make rotation.

I disagree. I like todays rock better. I hated nirvana, Alice was ok, Acdc&GNR yeah are awesome, thats about it for the 90s.

-now were only 5 years into 2000, and we already have some really great rock from: Tool, Disturbed, Godsmack, Nine inch nails, and avenged sevenfold and im not a big fan of punk but i'll admit i like my chemical romance. Even if you dont like any of theese bands, you have to admit most of them are just as talented or if not more talented than the bands of the 90's.

I like 90s rock a LOT more than the current spiel thats being pitched at us.

Although its all commercial, and it was then, it just seems like they are just cranking out crap for the masses to buy now instead of actually finding and scouting for talent.

<= listening to Filter while i type this

Today's is only slightly better.
70's and 80's rock were both far superior, in an entirely different league than the trash that has been called rock in the 90's and 2000's.

you gotta be kidding. today all they put out is $hit. the 80's has some very good bands, but i don't think hairbands pushes it over the 90's 😉

You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.

Yeah, I'll agree that today's "rock" is pretty weak. 90s rock and 80s alternative and punk completely own anything in the 00s.

70s and 60s were really great, too.
