I'm Compiling a list of all the essential parts for a single crack rack node. I've decided the best bang for the buck at the moment would be Socket Duron 650's or 600's (harder to find) overclocked to 900 (or more), and Klinux, I've got a few prices for cheap parts, If you guys know where to get them cheaper, post the price and link where you got them here.

Crack Rack Node:

All Of the following can be bought in a bundle at TCWO.com to save on shipping.

Would really like to find a better Socket A motherboard solution, that seems to be the most expensive part right now. The mobo listed has integrated sound, I'd like to find a cheaper one. And please, beat ANY of these prices!, I will try to keep a current list of all the best prices.

Or you can get one of the Taisol HSF's for about $4-$5 less and be just as good (and quiet) as the FOP-32... 🙂

Also, a quick search of my favorite shopping places doesn't show any 32MB SIMMS available, but www.lsmicro.com has 64MB PC133 for just under $27... 🙂

$9 NICs with no minimum buy-in. (Not 100 megabit, but who cares 😉 )

At Thomson's Computer Warehouse
These guys also have flat shipping fees of $7 for all you want, so that might save you $$ because a lot of those Pricewatch sharks make a lot of money on shipping. ($15 for a CPU? Come on...)

Hey that's only a little more than 1 each!!😀

Get started guys!!

If you can't afford to buy it then go and assimilate it instead!

🙂

Since you're including the power supply from DarnComputers, why not get the floppy drive from them as well, since their price for the drive is only $4.95? 😀

Edit: Wrong price... 😱

Those PSUs may not work, Socket A boards are more sensative to noise from the PSU then other MBs. Infact id say youd be pretty luck if they did work.

Train, which motherboard is that with the sound and lan integrated? Does it allow for frequency multiplier adjustments? Who's the manufacturer?

I'm pretty sure that mobo is PC-Chips M80SLR, compubuzz.com only had a picture and description, not very detailed specs, I will see if i can find another site that has better specs on it.

Thanks for the specs on the motherbaord. I noticed the title of this thread is 900mhz crack racks. I'm assuming this is with an unlocked CPU that can reach that speed.
If a CPU is unlocked doesn't the motherboard have to support frequency adjustment in the form of dip switches or bios adjustments ala the MSI K7T Pro2? Most low end/OEM boards like this PCChips one don't offer this... Is there any other way to overclock these chips without breaking and recombining other sets of bridges?
