the top says the bottom is true but since the bottom says the top is false, that means the top cannot be true, and since it is not true the bottom one becomes wrong in that it ::brainaslopes::

Statement #2 says 1 is false.
Therefore statement #2 is not true.
This now means that statement #2 is irrelevant.
We now return to statement #1. #1 is true.
But now statement #1 is lying, because we already proved that #2 is false.

This of course assumes that statement #1 can be trusted. And really, statement #1 never had any credibility. It already had one statement calling it a liar right from the get-go. Even if that statement was proven false, it still leaves a bad taste in everyone's mouth. Statement #1 can't be trusted. Damn flip-floppers.
