Just got back from fast and furious. Mindless, but I loved it.

Anyway the coolest part I thought was when Vin got into the '69 charger and started it up. Those theater speakers really did the engine justice!

nothing like a rumbling V8.

no I4, V6, or even V10 or V12 could ever come close to the sound of an american V8.

its all about the firing pattern of the cylinders

You liked that to did you?

:D

That car was just too damn sweet for it's own good.

There is no replacement for 7 litres of V8 power. You can turbocharge and mod all you want, hell even Nitrous and you still can't match the enjoyment of hearing a V8 rumble to life. You just need the huge displacement and those fat fat cylinders.

Val - have you ever heard the 3.0 from a Taurus SHO up close and personal? I'm sure it doesn't compare in your eyes, but goddamn - I've driven in a friend's SHO a few times and the sound of that engine once the secondary intake opens up is just spine tingling. I'm sure you'd respect it if you were in the passanger seat :D It's a 24V engine as well, but it sounds throaty as hell.

On a funny note, if you go to thefastandthefurious.com and run over the Charger, it'll rev the "engine" (sounds like an I4 to me lol). Check it out for a laugh :)

Dammmit!! I wanna see that movie soo bad!! I went yesterday but all three showings of it at the theaters were sold out!! And it was too late to go see it at another theater which was kinda far off!

Didn't get a chance to see it today either! Hopefully I'll see it tomorrow!! I really wanna see the Maxima in there!! Too bad the real-life performance of it is garbage (does the 1/4mi in 14.4s <Supercharged>, where there are mildly modified NA Maxs doing it in 14.5-14.7s)!!

Hope Nissan got represented in there!

And yes I also wanna hear the Charger coming to life!! I was behind a 5.0 Mustang a few days ago, oh my it sounded sooo sweeet idling and also being reved up!!

LOL, it does sound like a 4 cyl. and I think, it and the eclipse, share the same engine sound, or it's very, very similar.

Also when you put your cursor on them they vibrate, and keep vibrating quite violently, like they all have major vacuum leaks, hydraulics, or something naughty going on inside. :D

you can mod up a V6 or I4 as much as you want, it may be as loud as a V8 big block but it won't have the same sound.. its not just going to happen, the firing sequence is what gives the V8 its characteristic sound.

ever heard a Viper up close? sounds almost honda-like. a Lambo winding up to high rpms will sing for you, but it ain't no loping grumble V8

I don't know what it is...but you can't beat the rumble of a 426 Hemi or a 427/428 Ford FE....7+ L V8s are the nicest sounding engines ever built. Or the 454 Chevelle Engine :)

Even the 440Magnum sounded nice.

Partial to the Hemi myself as far as engines go though.

well, I take that back.. its not ALL in the firing sequence.

It's all about the number of pistons, the firing order, and the cam(s) they use. Exhaust has almost nothing to do with it.
