seriously, when I got my violin, it was 500 dollars, and now, at music stores, they are anywhere from 700 to 1200.

and I see this

is this for real? 90 dollar for a violin? anybody see anything I dont see? too good to be true, or did prices really go down lately

i know absolutely nothing about musical instruments, but I bet that thing is a POS. With instruments, don't you always get what you pay? I know a friend who dropped nearly $15,000 on a bass... so that violin must suck.

3/4 size... also, i don't know anything about stagg violins, but their guitars do NOT have a good reputation... anyway, its like all instruments, you get what you pay for, yours is probably better quality.

My dad has purchased them as low as $30.

Granted that's in lots on ebay, and typically missing something (a bow, for example). He can put them together in sets & sell them for $100-200 and still make money on them.

At that price you're getting chinese made, painted flame, bargain basement crap but for someone who may not even decide they want to play long term it's a cheap way to start.

My violin & bow are worth several thousand, and even that is relatively low end.
