90 and Facing Eviction

conspicuously absent is an explanation of why she is being evicted.
I got the impression that the building has been sold and will be converted for use as private dwelling/condo

They will make way for what they have heard will be deluxe apartments, with the enviable address of 1 Prospect Park West. The home’s managers surprised residents on March 5 when they called a meeting and announced that operating costs had climbed to unmanageable heights, forcing them to close the residence.

Of course the video linked in the OP is intended to be heart rendering and act as a promotional video without telling the "rest of the story"

So the real story should be:

"Assisted Living Facility being Shuttered, residents must find another facility."

And Mcowned proves yet again why he is so deserving of the name.

She put her house up as collateral for her sons church. He has not paid so the bank goes after the collateral.
I see no problem here. On top of that sounds like her son also did not even inform her of the problems as she learned about it on the news.

Lol. I wonder what God thinks about that?😡

The woman in this thread is Bella Hornung who is in NYC. The woman in the article linked above is Katherine Brealond and she was being evicted in 2011 from her home in Atlanta. One has nothing to do with the other.

Bella Hornung is being evicted, along with all the other residents of her assisted-living facility, because the facility is being shut down and apparently is going to be converted to ritzy apartments.

So pretty much the same thing in both cases, nothing to see here, mcowned living up to his reputation 😉

But this is why you OVER plan for retirement, not under. Living arrangements can change at anytime, esp if you do not own your home. Yes it sucks but if her lease/agreement has expired or is month to month then there is nothing legally wrong here. That and they are being given 90days notice so its not like they are knocking on their door and throwing them out that month of notice.

then to ask a question of dmcowen...

why should the assisted living facility owners/coordinators (because this is a private company) be held hostage by tenants?

From his pov, you have answered your own question.
PRIVATE
That indicates a corporation which means money/profit
No one is allowed to have any investment or wealth - he feels it is wrong.
