I wonder if you can even touch the camera while using it, the shake must get really amplified even on a tripod.

I'd doubt it... Unless the tripod is hydraulic coupled and auto balanced. Even then... heh

I know what I'm asking the wife for my birthday next week! heh

You could take great pictures of the Statue of Liberty with that thing... while standing on the Golden Gate Bridge! :Q

Lirion will have it in a few months...

You don't mount this lens to a camera; instead, you mount a camera to this lens.
That's pretty much what I gathered from the pictures!

I've tested a 1200 mm Canon EF EOS camera lens at the camera store. (Henry's in Toronto - It wasn't usually for sale - just on display that day.) The thing was absolutely monstrous, and cost $120000 Canadian (which is about US$85000-90000). Totally awesome, and autofocus too! The detail you could get out of that thing was absolutely stunning. And it worked with a standard off-the-shelf Canon EOS SLR camera body. It looked kinda the same as the one in the picture. Not sure if it's the exact same model though. It was several years ago.

The sales guy said nobody in Canada (back then) had ever bought one. :p
