A nine-year-old Russian boy entered the Guinness Book of World Records for push-ups at a sports gym in Moscow Tuesday ? the young athlete did 9263 push-ups within six and a half hours, the Mokovsky Komsomolets tabloid reported.

With his feat, Pavel Guseinov, who is a Moscow resident, beat the former Guinness ?champ? from North Ossetia, who was the same age.

Pavel?s relatives told the newspaper that he loved doing push-ups so much that even while watching TV he?ll suddenly get on the ground and start doing them. It?s gotten to the point that his parents at times tried to keep him from working out, but the young boy just does it in secret.

During his push-up marathon, Pavel forewent one five-minute break so that he could use it later to call his mother, Moskovsky Komsomolets reported.

Pavel has never formally trained at any gym, and push-ups are just a hobby that he enjoys doing.

I did 15 the other day.

Edit: I think if you add up the number of consecutive push-ups AT members on the whole can do, we might be able to beat this kid.

not a surprise.

i seem to remember a study finding younger kids are much stronger for there size then adults.

another study had navy seals fallowing 2 year olds around. climbing on furniture (the same size. so the couch was 4ft high etc) doing the same things 2 year olds do. The navy seals could not keep up with the 2 year olds. I found that amazing. But after watching my daughter climb up on the couch just to jump off and do that 100 times i now believe it.

The obvious conclusion from this data is that we need a elite army of superbabies.
Throw in some puppies and we'll be unstoppable.

I think this might actually be the case. The previous record holder was also Russian and the same age with an overwhelming desire to do pushups....hmmmm?

Lighter bodyweights are more productive in endurance type activities.

Crazy a mount...

is it 9263 or 9253... The title of the article says 53 but the story says 63...

You're right - 9253 would be nothing special! ;)

Well if the kid set the world record, and its being documented... they should get it right. Its impressive either way.
