Ok here is the contest.

I just learned that my contract along with 4 others would not be renewed at my current job. Therefor I need to find another job before October 31st. This is where you come in, revise my resume, make it look better, reword it if you wish, and if I pick yours, you win 9$. For you resume guru's it may only take a few minutes. And, if you really impress me, then I will throw in something extra.

HERE is the link to my resume, feel free to post your work here, or PM me the link. I will be standing by to answer any questions at least until 5 :D

Thanks for your help!

Can't help you on the resume in fact I asked for help from one member here and it helped a lot :) But make a scannable resume from Notepad as well as your MS Word one too. I seem to have a bit of success with one I'll PM you with.

Of course the email address is fake for the purpose of this contest lol..

MCSE, MCP, and network + are the certs.

Use your page space more efficiently.

Over 1/3 of your page space is completely blank.

You do not need a two page resume, switch your layout + reduce margins + eliminate minor bulleted items if necessary to get it down to one page.

What environments did you work in?

Would be a good idea to have all your technical skills/environment listed in one spot.

I am very impressed at how much you've accomplished...

However, I am more dissapointed that you are actually asking someone, anyone, over the Internet to do your resume...? And add in a Paypal award for 9 USD?

You've got to be kidding me. This is like the thread where this 15 year old kid asked AT members to modify a picture for him, his layouts were terrible. In contrast, I think your layout is very technical.

First off, how do you think of yourself? Looking incredibly dumb, like you've learned nothing from highschool? Your appetite for solutions really suck, terribly.

Here's what to do:

1. There is a library near your house.
2. Go there
3. Ask a librarian on a book how to make resumes.
4. Check it out and then go online and search for resume guides and examples.

5. Evaluate your resume. Keep it down to one page for a simple job, something to get started while you look for a better job. For the better jobs, keep it a single page still, but a tiny bit more technical. For the best jobs, dream job, whatever, two pages is good, no more. Where you want to go exactly, is upto you. But always have a job, a type of income is necessary so you don't end up in the streets, even if you need to do tech support for a small firm which doesn't pay a whole lot, at least you will have something to show for until you can find something that suits you better.
a. make multiple resumes of the same and different content.
b. pick which ones you like best.

6. after you're done. don't ask people on the Internet to do it again, because it makes you look desperate, stupid of course.
7. if you don't agree, rethink your logic and figure it out for yourself. I mean, if you're thinking about anyone over the Internet doing your resume for you, I think you have too much time on your hands? I am spoken for, because I have too much time on my hands right now to even be writing this stupid crap. hahaha

Well, humility albeit rarely found, especially on these boards, is a valuable thing. While I am great at a few things, and do alot of other things well, I do not feel that I do the best quality of work when it comes to writing a resume. Now, here is a concept for you.

Your argument would hold some logical sense, IF, this was a board say for cheerleading. Then, asking a group of cheerleaders would indeed make me look desperate and as you put it "stupid". However, the simple fact of the matter is that there are alot of highly talented people on the board, that work in the same field as I do. Alot of these individuals have alot more experience than me when it comes to crafting a decent resume.

Also, please note that I did not ask anyone to interview me and then formulate my resume, merely to improve on the basic concept that I had based on their own expertise. Granted, the paypal award is measly and hardly warrants the effort to help out someone that you do not know on the internet, but I have taken my time to help others over the internet with no reward, why? because I am compelled to be generous and giving, rather than a snivelling, whining troll.

In conclusion, since you fail at staying on topic, and contributing anything worthwhile to this thread, other than the amusement of seeing you make an ass of yourself, I would suggest since you obviously are the master of resume writing, that you seek to gain knowledge in other areas, such as, self confidence and why you have the need to belittle others in hopes to elevate your own sense of self worth. Good luck on that endeavor padawan.

To all of those making an honest attempt to help, I appreciate it and given the chance will return the favor to you as well.

I don't have time to revise your entire resume, but I guess I can say that there's too much jargon about what you did; some of them are too specific and detailed. Leave those out and keep it straight to the point and simple. You're also missing Objective and Qualifications. You want the employer to know you have a 'direction' of how you'll accomplish the job they're going to give you, as well as skills you have that might not fit into your work experience, such as your 'team oriented skills and ability to solve problems.' Keep it one page and leave the unimportant things out. If I'm an employer I want to read the best things you got and did, not everything that you did.

*edit* also expand your margins a bit and try not to indent too much and use Arial or some other more 'compact' but readable fonts so you can fit large amount of information into one page.

Ok so, I have received quite a few good entries, you guys are so much better at this than me. To answer a few of the questions, the resume will be printed and emailed. Oh and also, the prize is up to 20$ and will be given out at noon tomorrow, several people asked for extensions on the time, since they saw it so late. So, I will extend it once, since frankly, it helps me out. lol.

You experience is certainly quite impressive, however it just goes on and on. One massive issue - what skills do you actually have? There is no way to read that thing and see what skills you have. You have no skills section, a massive nono for a technical resume. Keep your job bullet points down to 2-3 max, keeping the ones where you directly benefited the company and where it explains the main job functions. List everything else as skills in a skills section for a reviewer to directly look at and able to check on his own quickly what you can do.

What's ACE Home school anyways? I have no idea what the heck that is, and a reviewer sure as heck won't. If it's a college, what degree?

Your HP, Dell and A+ certifications should all be listed under a skills section rather then education, or in a seperate certification section. That stuff is way too far down the resume.

Interview is where you elaborate. Again, I reiterate, interview is where you elaborate. A resume is for catching a reviewer's eye quickly during the 15-30 seconds taken to view a resume on average. Don't write a novel.

Massive lists of skill sets is a no-no for a resume which is just supposed to catch someone's eye to get an interview. Save that for the interview/actual job application.

The only thing on that resume that is fake is the mail address, phone numbers, and email address. Everything else is real.

I'm not stoned, i just wrote that at 1am, and had been up since 4am the previous morning.

I agree with firebot... if you went to A.C.E Home School... hopefully, you can establish that your school is not a joke (ie community college) and is a university or trade school with a nationally recognized program.

Otherwise that gives you about as much credibility as a can of corn which says "Bob's Corn" when compared with something sold under the name "Green Giant" or "Del Monte"...

You should probably (as ive done) only spend minimal time on your schooling on your resume, you have enough work experience to make up for going to a crappy school.

Well, unfortunately it is a High School, I do not have a college degree, I graduated at 17 and the same month began work at National Business Machines. Thankfully, I have had great luck in getting jobs that give me great experience. Oh and by the way.. here is this so you can laugh at me :( Thus being one of the reasons I moved out as soon as was able to and went right to work, in retrospect I should have gone to college, but I am looking at going back to night school, if I can get a decent job in the same salary range that I am in now.

I'd need an AT concensus on this.... but based on what you said... I might leave school totally off your resume, since it seems you have 5+ years work experience + certifications to your benefit.

OBJECTIVES are the most pointless thing you can put on a resume. Do some research.
