Laminator for Hot seal or cool seal. Also does the foil lamination.
Regular price is $119(store) or $129 online
Price match Office Depot's ad ($80)
Use $25 off $75 coupon
Rebate $50

Mileage will vary on if cashier/CSR does price match and coupon at same time. Worked well for me at store but not online!

Online CSR gave me some crud about not being able to price match an item with a rebate!

Just did this deal... use the $25/$75 out there and final price before MIR is $58.29, after $50 MIR = $8.29!! They said to expect it Tuesday! Thanks for the tip!

quick question: the mail in rebate comes from staples as well asnd says: Offer not valid with any other rebates, so if i use the 25 or 30 off coupon i can't use the 50 mail in anymore - correct ?
Does anyone have experience with staples coupon and rebate if both are from staples and not from mfg ? Will they allow you the mail in or will they cancel it based on the other rebate (25/30 off coupon )

Thanks

Should work just fine... the $25 off was a Staples coupon, not a rebate. They're different.

Sorry to tell you this, but the price at Staples is $129.99 and the price at OD is $79.99, exactly the difference between the two for the rebate, and Staples won't match because of the rebate, which is not offered by OD.

This is a blatant case of marking up a product so you can then offer a rebate, and Staples has acknowledged this by claiming they are the only ones offering a rebate.

the whole thing says: Offer not valid with any other rebates, offers or promotions
a coupon is neither of these ???

When I did the PM, I directed the CSR to the OD webpage which shows price as $80. The printed ad mentions the $50 instant rebate to get the $80 price. The OD webpage made no mention of this rebate, just says "Our Price $79.99" so send the CSR there.

UPDATE: I just called Staples CSR and asked if using a coupon would invalidate the rebate per the fine print about "not valid with other rebates offers r promotions". They put me on hold for a minute then said as far as they know the rebate should go through fine, that it's just a coupon and not an offer or additional promotion on that item. Granted, they're not the people that will be processing the rebate but now I have grounds for complaining (in good conscience) if for some reason the rebate gets denied.

Mungrag,
Thanks for your additional info for getting this cheaper with the 25 off 75!

Unfortunately it didn't work for me with online CSR.

Hope others get more helpful CSR's on the phone. Mine was not courteous and acted quite ignorant telling me that she would have to call an office depot store to see if they had it in stock. I said it's right on the OD webpage. It literally took her five minutes to find it then put me on hold for another 5 minutes after she spoke with her supervisor. That's when she came back and said she couldn't price match because of the rebate. Oh well, not worth the aggravation to save another $15 bucks. Great deal for $5 +tax but not a bad one for $20!

Rebuilder,
Sounds like you got the same CSR I got the first time. She went to the OD site and claimed they were out of stock (which is bull) then said to fax in the paper ad and she would call the store. I waited about a half hour and called back, got a real nice CSR who did the deal, no problems, using the OD website.

Others may want to wait till morning to get a fresh batch of CSR's... maybe they've been chatting amongst themselves about the people that have been calling on this deal. Remember to use the website to PM as it doesn't mention anything about a rebate.

UPDATE

After contacting two different reps, and then trying to reason with a supervisor, I was told no. the supervisor told me to call agin in a few minutes (7:00 PST) and the center he was at would be closed and I would be routed to Kentucky and I could find out better why they would not do it. I gave him a very difficult time, although I was very nice, explaining how it looked like they were just marking something up and then offering a rebate to make sales. He basically admitted that they were doing so, and that it was not illegal.

When I called the next rep in Kentucky, I just tried again to do the deal and it worked. I got the laminator at $79.99, added Item # 446861, Canon Photo Home Edition CD, $29.97 with $30.00 rebate (1-13-01 deadline)to get the price over $100.Then I applied the $30 off $100.00 coupon.

cost:
$79.99 - laminator
$29.97 - software
tax 8.80

Total $118.76
-30.00 coupon
-30.00 software rebate
-50.00 rebate

Total cost = $8.76

not bad. it costs that much for one or two laminations.

Further Update:

It turns our the software I ordered aBove has an in-box rebate for $10.00 in addition to the Staples $30.00 rebate, so I made a couple dollars and have the machine in hand. Deadline is Saturday to purchase

This worked like a charm! Luckily, I called at night and the CSR didn't bat an eye at the match, and didn't even need to see the OD web site (I had already looked up the item number and everything).

THANKS!

Finally, I got a reasonable CSR. Got it for $5 +tax ($50 rebate of course)!
Now to take back the one I bought at a B&M.

Thanks again Mungrag for remembering the $25 off $75 code!

Ya'll have a good one!

as far as i am concerned, staples can mark their prices up an dinclude the rebate, makes using those higher priced coupons easier.

SCORE! on the laminator. I can now start my fake id business. heheheh.

Hrm, I just went to print out the Rebate form.....and it says "Valid Purchase Dates: 2000-12-07 to 2000-12-24" That means we can't get the $50 rebate?

Please tell me I'm wrong and I went to the wrong page.....

You're wrong and you went to the wrong page.

In the rebate center go to the rebate marked "$50 MIR on GBC Docubind 95 or Docuseal 100" . There you'll find a rebate for the GBC Docuseal 95 (SKU 723353). Good on purchases from December 31, 2000 and January 20, 2001.
